Fr. Davis Chackaleckel was born on October 21, 1952 in Trichur,
in the State of Kerala in South India as the fifth child in a family
of six children. His Christian roots can be traced back to St.
Thomas, one of the twelve Disciples of Christ whose holy feet
touched the coastal areas of Kerala.
He joined the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales also known as
Fransalians after
graduating from Higher Secondary School. Fr. Davis was sent to
Pontifical Athenaeum, Pune, India where he received his degrees in
Philosophy and Theology. He also has bachelor degrees in English
Literature, Sociology and Political Science.
He was ordained as priest on November 9, 1980 at St. Raphael’s
Cathedral, Palghat Kerala, India and celebrated his Sacerdotal
Silver Jubilee last year with a gala back at St. Raphael’s
Cathedral. After his ordination, Fr. Davis served as a Pastor and
Principal of three Missions, for a period of five years each in the
North-Eastern frontiers of India, which neighbors China and Burma
(presently known as Myanmar). Fr. Davis also served five years as
the Rector of a Minor Seminary which recruited candidates for
priesthood for North-East India and African Missions.
Upon his arrival to the United States he has served as the Pastor of
St. Francis of Assisi Church in Dover, Tennessee. Fr. Davis recently
completed his Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Seton
Hall University, NJ with Magna Cum Laude status. He is specialized
in the areas of Marriage & Family Counseling and Alcohol and Drug
